Defects Found By Our ILS8 UT System

In the fast-paced production environment of an ERW mill, where speeds can reach over 200ft/min, detecting the smallest defect is critical. Marking the defect with precision, further down the line, is just as important. Our ILS8 UT system does this and more effortlessly.

The pictures shared here show a variety of defects found by our ILS8 UT, which were marked and later taken to the lab for analysis. An A-scan record of the entire coil is also available to corroborate the UT-identified defects with lab pictures obtained after analysis.

• Fusion line inclusions

• Lack of fusion

• Mid-wall defects

• Segregation band defect

• Voids

Using the A-scan from the coil, each defect can be paired with its lab image for further analysis, training, and forward planning.
